Contemporary 9:00am Service

 St. Luke’s Lutheran Church

Leader: Let us confess to God and before one another our sins, and especially our unwillingness to seek God in the midst of life’s chaos.

People: We confess to You, O God, and before one another, that we have sinned. We want things to be safe for us. We want to think that as Jesus’ disciples we will be taken care of and nothing bad will ever happen to us. But while we are taken care of, sometimes we have to do some very scary things. It is not easy to follow Jesus. The way is simple to understand, but very difficult to do. Our hearts are divided and not centered on God. We love ourselves a lot more than we love others. Help us to trust You enough, O God, that we are willing to get out of our safe places and plunge into the chaos of the world where Jesus is at work. Fill us with Your Holy Spirit that we may dare to be true disciples. Amen.

Leader: In the mercy of almighty God, Jesus was given to die for you, and for His sake God forgives you all your sins. If you believe in Jesus Christ, He gives you power through the Holy Spirit to step forward with all the courage and grace you will need for the tasks that lie before you. Thankfully receive those gifts and use them for others in the midst of their chaos.

Praise Song

Prayer of the Day

We sing Your praises, O God, for You have established creation in the midst of the waters of chaos. You know that chaos will never defeat Your plans for us. Grant us the courage to join Jesus in the midst of all that swirls around us. Amen.

Traditional 11:00am Service

St. Luke’s Lutheran Church

We recommend that you take time to slow down, focus on God, and spend some time in silent reflection. God Himself is present! Enjoy His awesome love for you! You might find the following prayer to be helpful:

“In love and reverent fear of You, LORD, and with all my heart, I seek, praise, admire, appreciate, thank, trust and serve You!

Help me do this today and always!

LORD, I delight in You and You delight in me! WOW!”

Leader: In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

People: Amen

Leader: Almighty God, to whom all hearts are open, all desires known, and from whom no secrets are hid. Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of Your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love You and worthily magnify Your holy name, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

People: Amen

Leader: If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, God who is faithful and just will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Leader: Most merciful God,

People: We confess that we are in bondage to sin and cannot free ourselves. We have sinned against You in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by what we have left undone. We have not loved You with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. For the sake of Your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us. Forgive us, renew us, and lead us, so that we may delight in Your will and walk in Your ways, to the glory of Your holy name. Amen.

Leader: In the mercy of Almighty God, Jesus Christ was given to die for you, and for His sake God forgives you all your sins. To those who believe in Jesus Christ He gives the power to become the children of God and bestows on them the Holy Spirit.
