The family applied for homeownership in hopes to provide a safe and stable place for their children away from the gangs and prostitution.  Mr. Lopez works as a machine operator for a manufacturing company in the city of Compton.  Kevin (13) is diagnosed with autism which presents problems in his speech development, socializing and behavior.  The family currently volunteers at their children’s school with morning monitoring, serving breakfast and assisting with clean-up.
